Dear friends, things in Greece were rather good. Although we live with the bombing of Yugoslavia problem (It's in our neighborhood) the first in circulation newspaper had an extensive coverage of the strike. Also there was coverage from radio stations and other media. But best of all we had the full support with their own press releases from 3 (out of 7) political parties and around 400 pages "down", between them one of a political party that resulted in extensive media coverage from the media.

Reino Unido
The boycott was a huge sucsess in UK. We have had great media coverage including TV and radio. We have increased supports by a factor of 10 and membership is up 30-40%. The issues are due to be debate in our House of Commons on wednesday. Over all a great sucsess.

Polonia
There was no response from the media in Poland. The Pope is a 24h/d topic right now. Even the amount of concrete and steel used to build the Lichen sanctuary is considered to be a much more important subject then our protest. I'm still checking the resaults but it looks pretty poor right now.

Bélgica
As you know, we don't participate because of the recent "meeting" between us and Belgacom: they accept the openure of the large discussion including most of the part (providers, telcos, ibpt, ...). Anyway, as you know yet, we mentionned the strike in our press releases and on the site. So, some internet surfers had probably partaked. Moreover, we asked to them to do not surf by "solidarity".

Suiza
In Switzerland, the boycott was good. We don't know how many people effectively took part, but all I can say is that the number of our supporters increased. Although we appeared on a local TV and were able to have a debate about Internet costs with a Swisscom's speaker, the media coverage of the boycott wasn't as good as we expected it. Good news : for the first time in six months, we got an answer from Swisscom and the support of some politicians. We also met the CEO of GTN, a Swiss national operator. He is "supporting" our demands and said his company will do everything it could to introduce a flat-rate. He showed us the accounts and costs of the company. That was pretty interesting. Unfortunately, it appears that it is impossible for them to introduce an unlimited forfeit because of Swisscom's high and metered interconnection prices :(( So, if talks with Swisscom lead nowhere, we are planning to hand out our petition to the regulator, asking him to introduce unmetered interconnection prices for data transmissions.

Francia
In France the boycott effects were very limited. People are bored with boycotts and a 6 months struggle led to an insignificant flat-rate (20h/15) that is satisfactory neither for big users nor for small users. I think that national telcos have been since a long time lobbying in Brussels and Strasbourg.

Rumanía
In Romania the boycott was not as good as we have expected to be. We don't know surely how many people took part to our boycott. We appeared 3 weeks ago on the national TV, explaining to all the romanians what CAIR (The Romanian Internet users' Community) is and which are our demands. The media coverage these days was not as good as we wanted to be. It is 4 month now till their (Romtelecom - OTE) last response. Our community was available on Romtelecom site but now it disappeared - who knows why. Anyway in february they contacted us regarding our compaign and asked us to negotiate. Hope that the negotiations will take part as soon as they will give us a response after the boycott. New supporters are entering our campaign.

Italia
Let's go to the point: in Italy things did not go the way we were expecting at all. The first press releases we sent to the media, as you know, some time ago had pretty much success. The same did not happen for the latest ones including the main one sent on the 5th. What left us very disappointed was the space the boycott piece of news had on the press and the media gave to it, which was about null. Thousands (millions?) of people around Europe joining the boycott were not a reality for the italian people since they even ignore what was planned on the 6th of june.

Portugal
The movement Greve.NET in Portugal no longuer exists. Today, the 7th of June our site has only a black page with a short text explaining why the movement ceased. It was because of my personal life. I can no longer fight for the Internauts interests and the structure of the movement in Portugal was so fragil that just because i stopped all movement fell down.
